“An Evening with Jimmy Murakami: Non-Alien”

Thanks to the personal connections of Sheila ( teacher), we as a school are able to host ‘An Evening with Jimmy Murakami: non-Alien’ in the school from 7pm to 9.30 pm on Monday October 11th for teachers and parents ( limited spaces so ensure to get your name down with Fintan( Principal) or Sheila ( teacher) early, first-come-first-served). Jimmy Murakami is an internationally-renowned film-director and animator (/ When the Wind Blows, The Snowman)./ During World War 2, as a young Japanese adult, he was interned in an American concentration camp. The effect of this internment on his own life and that of his family is explored in a recently released Irish documentary film “Jimmy Murakami: Non-Alien”. Why not join us to watch this film, and afterwards to join in a discussion with the man himself Jimmy Murakami and the documentary director Vanessa Gildea.
This event is taking place as part of the school’s 5th Annual Human Rights Month. Please see elsewhere on this website ( http://www.balbrigganetns.com ) for the full programme for this important month in our school’s ( as an Educate Together school) life.
